IT'S A SMALL SMALL WORLD
Over the past 10 years, I have
heard some amazing 'small world' stories.
I have some stories here, and would welcome any other ZHS related, small
world stories. Please send them to Tess@ZaragozaToros.com
Some of these stories aren't really THAT amazing, but interesting
coincidences. If we had all grown up in the same town most of these
wouldn't be interesting at all. But, since we came from so many different places
to a small school in the desert, then moved to places across the country, and
the world, it is kind of cool to find 'relationships' in our lives.
Check back soon as I'm sure I'll be adding to the page in
the next few weeks.

Recently
I discovered that my son-in-law works with and knows Billy England who
was stationed at ZAB in the late 80s and is married to Vickie Page

At
one time, Renee Velasquez, class of 82, lived about 10 miles from me and
I never knew it. Unfortunately she had passed away a few years before I
found out.

Higginbotham worked for several months in Conway, AR where I live after
an ice storm a few years ago.
Unfortunately I didn't know it until after the fact.

Just
a few weeks ago I received an email from Tim Clements, class of 75.
During the course of our conversation, we found out that he was about 20
miles from my house at a Soccer tournament.

It is my understanding that Linda Fernandez's daughter Haily Chessmore is also working for Dell in Austin. It is probably doubtful they know each other, as Dell is a huge company in Austin....it was major "small" world coincidence that Brett was on same team as my son-in-law. - Dan (Hess) Class of 78 |
Although I've not heard him them since, Donnicus Cook, class of 82, ended
up at the same high school as me in Little Rock.

My son David is in the Air
force stationed at Randolph AFB as a firefighter. His chief
is a very good friend of our family, I used to babysit his kids in
Zaragoza. My son had been stationed at Randolph and working
with the chief for over a year when one day while they were having their
thanksgiving dinner my son sat across from the chief's wife and started
talking. He told her that his grandmother and mother were from
Spain. She asked where was his grandmother from and a few
other family questions and that is how shefigured out who he was and that she knew my mother and me!! Of course now my poor son gets allot of grief from his squardron since the fire chief is a close friend of the family!! So now I have a close friend of the family watching over my son!! I'm sure not the greatest of situation to be in when your young and having fun. But still, what a small world!! Linda Fernandez ~ Class of 81 |
Long before that happened I was living near Tallahassee, Florida and again - shopping. I walked into a large department store with my husband and son, and happened to look up the down escalator, and there was my roommate from ZAB - Barbara Clark coming down. I had no idea she was living there at the time, but we struck up our friendship again, and we have been in contact on and off ever since. So those are my stories, bizarre as they are. I hope it happens again! Lorrie O'Connor Youngers ~ Class of 75 |
